Occupy Wall Street is now Hang Out Wall Street
In the last few months, we have witnessed a movement called Occupy Wall Street that we have covered in a documentary directed by Abel Ferrara and produced by Film Annex:

Initially I did find this idea quite interesting as it was able to draw high media attention and initiate a real conversation.
At this stage, the Media seems to have clearer ideas than the protesters, so the protest has become more of a Media Excuse than a real movement with a clear direction.
I don't see this movement as being manipulated by an organization or political movement. It is showing those who want to express random opinions and frustrations, no problem with that. It's New York's version of London Speakers' Corner. But due to its lack of coordination, it has also become a meeting point for questionable people. I wonder if Batman would have approved it or found it in contradiction with his "super hero" guidebook.
Corporate Greed is an issue, so is Political Greed, but so is Personal Greed. All those interact together and, if well mixed, can produce the worse of what our society can offer us.
Steve Kroft of CBS's 60 Minutes covered very well the issue of Congress members trading stocks on inside information: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18560_162-57323527/congress-exempt-from-insider-trading-laws/?tag=currentVideoInfo;videoMetaInfo. This issue is a common one for every government, in the world.
Corporate Greed can be resolved as a start by making Government Officials liable for their misconducts and failures. Politicians should be held responsible for their actions with penalties twice stronger as those assigned to regular citizens, something similar to the Drug Free School Zone regulations where penalties are increased if drug trafficking happens in the vicinity of schools.
Once we bring the Politicians back on track and we are ready to count on them, once we are aware of our real rights and we are not offered to vote for two different sides of the same coin, once we know that people in the Government are aware of their power but also liabilities, then we can discuss Corporate Greed, or even better, our Politicians will do it for us, as they should.
A few country leaders suffered major consequences of Greed, here are a few names:
Adolf Hitler
Benito Mussolini
and more recently:
Saddam Hussein
Muammar Gaddafi
These days are different; leaders are voted in office and are not liable for any of their mistakes, unless they sleep with their assistants or hire prostitutes.
Ironically, the most advertised product on 60 Minutes is Viagra.
Another way to resolve this problem is to create a more efficient way of protesting. The protests do not have to happen on endless nights in a Square, but can take place online, where blogs, videos and images can be shared by billions of viewers on a 24/7 schedule, and everybody can go on with their occupation and studies, while staying in their comfortable homes. In addition, this activity can be a healthy source of income and create valuable business connections.
Intellectuals and protesters, regardless if they are Liberals or Conservatives, must maintain a neutral and independent position, and to do so they must be incorruptible and financially independent. This is what you can find online today starting from organizations like Film Annex.
